Our customer is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. The role involves supporting a migration project from Redshift to Athena.
About the role
We're looking for a professional who has hands-on experience with dbt (core), AWS cloud services (Redshift, Athena), and strong communication skills. You'll be part of a dynamic team, contributing to a high-impact project.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the platform team to migrate existing dbt pipelines from Redshift to Athena
- Optimize dbt pipelines and models’ configuration for Athena
- Bring your expertise to shape the data platform and ensure scalable and cost-effective implementation
- Work closely with the technical lead and the product owner
- Adopt and follow team’s coding, development and security standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and efficiently
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering using AWS cloud (Redshift, Athena, and other services)
- Understanding of data modeling with dbt on top of data lakes and data warehouses
- SQL and dbt proficiency
- Experience with Python to implement and support ETL pipelines
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience with agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with Apache Iceberg and AWS Lake Formation
- Experience with Docker
