Team Lead Engineer
About On The Spot
About the team
Orca Security is a cybersecurity startup and cloud innovation leader. Founded in 2019 in Israel by former Check Point managers, it raised $630+ million and became a 'unicorn' in 2021.
As part of Orca cloud security suite, our team is building Orca Sensor — a lightweight runtime component that brings deep visibility and protection to cloud workloads running on Kubernetes, serverless engines and virtual machines.
Our mission is to make cloud security smarter, faster, and easier to deploy, without the burden of traditional agents. If you enjoy solving performance and reliability challenges in modern cloud infrastructure, you’ll feel right at home here.

About the role
You'll lead the Orca Sensor team while remaining hands-on in engineering.
You'll start by operating as a senior individual contributor: shipping production code, learning the codebase, and building a deep understanding of the team's domain and challenges.
Over your first 3-6 months, you'll gradually take on team leadership, including ceremonies, delivery, performance management, and stakeholder communication.
In the long term, you'll own technical direction of the Sensor domain while continuing to code on critical paths.
Our team works across Go microservices, eBPF/Linux/Windows low-level programming, and the Helm/CI/CD that ships it all.
We’re based in Warsaw. For this role, it’s important you have the ability to work from the office two days per week.

Responsibilities
- Contribute primarily to the Go/Python codebase as a senior engineer to the microservices backend and runtime sensor (Go on Linux/Windows, container/k8s integrations)
- Own the product end-to-end, including DevOps: Helm charts, CI/CD (GitHub Actions), monitoring/alerting (Grafana/Prometheus)
- Drive architecture and design decisions across the team. Performance, low overhead, reliability, and security of a sensor running on customer infrastructure are first-class concerns
- Lead on-call rotation and production incident response for the team domain
- Run team ceremonies, manage delivery against the roadmap, and grow team members (up to 7 engineers)
- Manage performance and wellbeing of the team
Requirements
- 7+ years of production software engineering experience in low-level/back-end languages (with willingness to ramp on Go fast)
- At least one of:
- Low-level / systems experience: system programming for Linux/Windows with a focus on performance
- Deep backend experience with microservices at scale
- Production experience with at least one major cloud (AWS / Azure / GCP) and Kubernetes
- DevOps experience: Helm, GitHub Actions, container runtimes, observability tooling
- 1+ year as a tech lead or team lead, with proven ability to make and defend technical decisions and grow other engineers
